Welcome to Running for Russian Orphans

Some might think that completing one marathon is a hefty challenge for a lazy Sunday morning, but to run 6 marathons over one month in the height of summer may be considered lunacy. This is the fate that awaits me this August!

My mission is to run 6 marathons across the historic Russian 'Golden Ring' cities in three weeks in August and September 2011.

The Golden Ring is one of the oldest Russian routes. It goes to the north-east of Moscow and forms a circle. There are many interesting ancient Russian cities and towns along the way, full of history and unique Russian architecture of the XII-XVII centuries.

I have decided to take up this challenge to raise awareness of the many thousands of Russian orphans whose lives are deprived of the basic necessities that we often take for granted.
